Ol' Kentucky

Over the weekend my wife and I got to partake in some good ol' road trip fun. One of my employees got married in my home state of Kentucky, so I thought it would be a great excuse to take Heidi to my home state.

We left after work on Thursday night and drove to Knoxville, TN, were we were able to see my father and Teresa. The next mourning we got up and headed to Kentucky. Louisville is only about 4.5 hours from Knoxville so we decided to take back roads and geocache along the way.

Geocaching was a great way to see and explore things that most people would just pass by. We got to stop by graveyards, a train boxcar dinner restaurant, small towns and dead end roads. It was a great time and ended up taking us all day. The 4.5 hour trip took 7. No worries though cause we got to Louisville in plenty of time to pitch our tent in a field (yes we camped out and it was way cool) and meet everybody at Mark's Feed Store for the rehearsal dinner. From there Heidi and tore into downtown Louisville to see the sights. It is really a great city both during the day and at night.

The next day Heidi and I went exploring Louisville and ended up in the Highlands' section of Louisville. There we found a place called Lynn's Paradise Cafe. It is in the top 1,000 Places to See in the U.S.A. & Canada Before You Die book. It is a great little place with kittish decor from top to bottom. Not wanting to be late for the wedding Heidi and I headed back.

It was a great little wedding and I know that Scott and Kristen will always cherish it. We did skip out on the reception to head back to Knoxville to hang out with my Pop's a little more.

On Sunday we headed home. It was an easy trip with a little stop off in Hendersonville at Jump Off Rock where we did a little hiking and sightseeing as well pay respects to my Granddad whose ashes are scattered there.

All in all it was a fun quick trip with most of the time spent in the car. I love Kentucky and was very glad to get back to it. Louisville ranks up there pretty high in one of the coolest cities to live in for me. If you ever get a chance go check it out.

To Blog Or Not To Blog?

Work has been really busy as of late. I have been putting in lots of hours. In doing so I find that the free time I do have is very special to me. With that I haven't been really publishing any real content on the blog. Its been a lot of fluff so as I don't have to think to hard. However I have been doing some really cool stuff at work that I haven't got to talk about.

I have also had some health issues. I won't be getting into much depth as far as that other than I am getting old and that my emergency bill I just got is going to cost me about $1500 (and thats after my insurance picked up part of the tab). OUCH!

So be on the look out for more in depth post that actually have some substance.

A New Geocacher...

After the Grand Strand Bloggers meeting I took my friend Bobby out for his first geocache. We went to Verene Park and had a pretty good time.

Next time maybe I can get Paul out there.

Bloggers Everywhere!
