Its Offical

On Saturday we had our monthly meeting of the Grand Strand Geocachers. During the meeting we went over paperless geocaching, next months big meeting at Bass Pro Shop and picked the official logo for the group. There were some great logo samples and I commend everyone on their entries. When all the votes were tallied up it was your truly that out shined the others. So its official The Grand Strand Geocachers have a logo!

To top off the good news Heidi and I went to eat breakfast Sunday mourning at Plantation Pancake House. This place is great. It is smoke free, has free wi-fi, great food, this cool camera and a geocache. We wanted to get this cache so I had to get my brother Nakia to participate even though he was all the way in Rock Hill! On this particular cache is called a web-cam cache. It order to get credit you have to have someone take a screen capture of you while you are on the web-cam. My brother was more than happy to help thanks to all of the meds he was on. It also let us show off the baby to Nakia, Shara and Elenore.

If you are ever in town go check out Plantation Pancake House and get your friends from back home check you out in real time!

A Good Direction

So every now and then you lose you way. Sometimes you don't actually loose you way but you wonder in if you are on the right track. I have learned the importance for asking for directions.

Long story short, 803 Labs, iNC. hired a business consultant to take a look at the operations. She sat and talked with us for a day and then came back a week later and just observed. Her feed back was top notch. She told us what we were doing right, what we were doing wrong and how to improve. We have already started implementing some of the theories she talked to us about and I think we can all see a big difference.

So next time you can't seem to find your way, just stop - observe your surrounding - and reivaulate. It can make a big difference.

Car Woes

I ma sitting at the VW dealer waiting for for my car. It seems that there was a factory recall for two different things on my 2003 VW Jetta. One was the locking system for the front doors, the second was a break light switch. The second one was what was worrying me the most. In a nut shell my break lights do not cut off. I have to get out of my car, pop the hood and disconnect the battery cables. While I am here I am getting the temp sensor and the thermostat replaced. The are both faulty and I have been dealing with it since October.

While the first two things are under warranty the second are not. The parts price is going to be $70 while who knows on the labor. Now they are telling me I need to replace my rear breaks as well. I am going to have to hold off and let my boys in Conway do that.

Haha I just got the total bill $250. What a crock! $170 for labor, shit.

If you don't have to then don't get your service work at the dealer. Learn to do it yourself (unless you have the Pope curse!).

Netflix On Hold

netflix_hold.jpg

I have put put my Netflix account on hold for now. To be honest I am not sure if I will even kick it back up. I have gotten alot of of my Netflix account and think it is a great little service. However I have great distaste for the fact that they offer a download service to all except Mac fanboys. I know it is a limitation to the software supported by mac, but it has been over a year since the download service began and still no love for the Mac's. There is rumor that the download service will service Mac's by the end of the year but that may a ltle too late. For now I am just putting my account on hold. I have plenty to watch right now and with the writer's strike there won't be much coming out in the near future.

Award Winning Agency

addy.png

803 Labs, iNC. just got back for the AAF-CC Addy awards show and guess what? We won an Addy! All the top dogs come out for this little affair to showoff their skills and we were pleased to be a part of it all.

We won an Addy for Identity Design: Stationary. I really think this is one of 803's strong suits. I am also pleased to have a designer on staff, Leslie Tyson, who complements the design department with her talents. She helped bring the stationary package together and her hard work is awarded with the 2008 Addy.

Sleep through the Static

I know I talk about music on here every so often. But to honest I don't get excited about it anymore. I don't seek out new music, go to shows or really care about what is coming out. However there is one exception: Jack Johnson. I have no idea why but I totally did what he does and how he does it. When I listen to jack Johnson it literately takes me away to some magical tropical place.

Cover_STTS_sm.jpg

Well folks he has a new album out and its good. Entitled "sleep through the static" the all acoustic album is just what I expected it o be. To top it off I read this in the liner notes, "Recorded using 100% solar energy, printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper, and carrying the 1% For The Planet logo." Pretty cool to me. If you are interested in checking it out for your self just swing over to the website.

A Geocache Mixtape

When you are geocaching and you come across a new geocache that has "swag" in it you have the opportunity to swap something out. This is something that I normally find t be a little more for the kids. However on some occasions I do come across something that I find cool and interesting. Normally this consist of a geocoin or travelbug. (Both of theses items are tracked by the geocaching website so you can see there whereabout across the world). For me keeping a swag bag is difficult. I never seem to have anything with me at the right time. However I have devised a plan to have some cool swag with me that would be cool to find while you are out on the hunt.

A Geocahce Mixtape! In theory what is supposed to happen is I make a bunch of different mix cd's, and place them in caches. Fellow geocachers would then pick them up on the hunt. They then could listen to them and when they get tired of it swap it out with the next one that they find. Maybe it would even catch on and other people would start doing mixtapes.

Here goes the first two Mix Tapes:

Yes We Can

Thanks to Paul for this. I found it uplifting in many different ways. Check out will.i.am had to say about it all after the movie.

The Yes We Can Song
by will.i.am

I was sitting in my recording studio watching the debates...
Torn between the candidates

I was never really big on politics...
and actually I’m still not big on politics...
but 4 years ago, me and the black eyed peas supported Kerry...
And we supported Kerry with all our might...
We performed and performed and performed for the DNC...
doing all we could do to get the youth involved...

The outcome of the last 2 elections has saddened me...
on how unfair, backwards, upside down, unbalanced, untruthful,
corrupt, and just simply, how wrong the world and "politics" are...

So this year i wanted to get involved and do all i could early...

And i found myself torn...
because this time it’s not that simple...
our choices aren’t as clear as the last elections ...
last time it was so obvious...
Bush and war
vs
no Bush and no war...

But this time it’s not that simple...
and there are a lot of people that are torn just like i am...

So for awhile I put it off and i was going to wait until it was decided for me...

And then came New Hampshire...

And i was captivated...

Inspired...

I reflected on my life...
and the blessings I have...
and the people who fought for me to have these rights and blessings...

and I’m not talking about a "black thing"
I’m talking about a "human thing" me as a "person"
an American...

That speech made me think of Martin Luther King...
Kennedy...
and Lincoln...
and all the others that have fought for what we have today...

what America is "supposed" to be...

freedom...
equality...
and truth...

and thats not what we have today...
we think we are free...
but in reality terror and fear controls our decisions...

this is not the America that our pioneers and leaders fought and
died for...

and then there was New Hampshire

it was that speech...
like many great speeches...
that one moved me...
because words and ideas are powerful...

It made me think...
and realize that today we have "very few" leaders...
maybe none...

but that speech...

it inspired me...
it inspired me to look inside myself and outwards towards the world...
it inspired me to want to change myself to better the world...
and take a "leap" towards change...
and hope that others become inspired to do the same...
change themselves..
change their greed...
change their fears...
and if we "change that"
"then hey"..
we got something right...???...

1 week later after the speech settled in me...
I began making this song...
I came up with the idea to turn his speech into a song...
because that speech effected and touched my inner core like nothing in a very long time...

it spoke to me...

because words and ideas are powerful...

I just wanted to add a melody to those words...
I wanted the inspiration that was bubbling inside me to take over...

so i let it..

I wasn't afraid to stand for something...
to stand for "change"...
I wasn't afraid of "fear"...
it was pure inspiration...

so I called my friends...
and they called their friends...
in a matter of 2 days...
We made the song and video...

Usually this process would take months...
a bunch of record company people figuring out strategies and release dates...
interviews...
all that stuff...
but this time i took it in my own hands...
so i called my friends sarah pantera, mike jurkovac, fred goldring, and jesse dylan to help make it happen...
and they called their friends..
and we did it together in 48 hours...
and instead of putting it in the hands of profit we put it in the hands of inspiration...

then we put it on the net for the world to feel...

When you are truly inspired..
magic happens...
incredible things happen...
love happens..
(and with that combination)

"love, and inspiration"

change happens...

"change for the better"
Inspiration breeds change...

"Positive change"...

no one on this planet is truly experienced to handle the obstacles we face today...
Terror, fear, lies, agendas, politics, money, all the above...
It’s all scary...

Martin Luther King didn't have experience to lead...
Kennedy didn't have experience to lead...
Susan B. Anthony...
Nelson Mandella...
Rosa Parks...
Gandhi...
Anne Frank...
and everyone else who has had a hand in molding the freedoms we have and take for granted today...

no one truly has experience to deal with the world today...

they just need "desire, strength, courage ability, and passion" to change...
and to stand for something even when people say it's not possible...

America would not be here "today" if we didn’t stand and fight for
change "yesterday"...
Everything we have as a "people" is because of the "people" who fought for
change...
and whoever is the President has to realize we have a lot of changing to do

I'm not trying to convince people to see things how i do...
I produced this song to share my new found inspiration and how I've been moved...
I hope this song will make you feel...
love...
and think...
and be inspired just like the speech inspired me...

that’s all...

Let's all come together like America is supposed to...
Like Japan did after Hiroshima...

that was less than 65 years ago...
and look at Japan now...

they did it together...
they did it...

"We can't?...

Are you serious..?..

WE CAN!!!

Yes we can...
A United "America"
Democrats, Republicans and Independents together...
Building a new America

We can do it...
"TOGETHER"
