Netflix On Hold

netflix_hold.jpg

I have put put my Netflix account on hold for now. To be honest I am not sure if I will even kick it back up. I have gotten alot of of my Netflix account and think it is a great little service. However I have great distaste for the fact that they offer a download service to all except Mac fanboys. I know it is a limitation to the software supported by mac, but it has been over a year since the download service began and still no love for the Mac's. There is rumor that the download service will service Mac's by the end of the year but that may a ltle too late. For now I am just putting my account on hold. I have plenty to watch right now and with the writer's strike there won't be much coming out in the near future.

A Week At The Movie

So I took last week to catch up on some long overdue movie watching at my house as well as at the theater. Let's recap!

1) Ocean's 13 - def a go look see. My least favorite of the three but still good. The best part is the opening and closing title sequences. Ode to the past movie making and titles. I guess the reason I didn't like this as much was character bonding with the crowd. It just goes right into the heist. I guess you had the first two movies to get to know the boys. oh well, its still worth a watch.

2) Surf's Up - Loved this film. Animated well, good soundtrack, and enough insider surfer stuff to keep it moving along. Filmed like a surf documentary with commentary makes this animated film stick out from the sea of others. I know I have a soft spot for surf movies in general but this was different enough for the whole family to like.

3) Knocked Up - Really damn funny and charming at the same time. This is the one film you need to see. Everybody is talking about it and you should be too. If you are in a relationship you will either appreciate what you two have together or see why you really hate the other. Go see it!

4) Fantastic Four 2 - As good as the first. Basic in design as far as movie plot goes this movie delivers on the popcorn ability. Go see it in a digital theater, the opening space scene is why they made digital theaters in the first place.

5) Pool Hall Junkies - A good watch. The lead guy (Mars Callahan) is a Ben Aflac. Christopher Walken was great in the movie. Pick it up for a good Thursday night movie.

6) I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Clive Owen plays a retired disillusioned ex-mob type guy who shows back up on the day his brother commits suicide. A watchable film from England. Just don't expect a happy ending or any closer for that matter. However I love Clive Owen so it is worth a peek.

7) Lion Heart - Jean Claude Van Damn wrote and produced this masterpiece. Need I say more?

8) Tigerland - Directed by Joel Schumacher staring Colin Farrell this was the most overlooked film of 2000. The last stop before Vietnam -- Tigerland.

9) Torque - Its like Fast & The Furious on Bikes except it has Ice Cube. Freaking Awesome!

Lee, Flash & Fishburn

What do Spike Lee, Grandmaster Flash and at the time "Larry" Fishburn have in common?

Check out this video for a quick recap on the Life and Times Of EPMD. (So much for me claiming I used to be a Hip Hop kid. I didn't know any of this or the fact that EPMD stand for Eric and Parish Making Dollars!)

Another Reason J.T. Is The Shit

Hot Chick, Hot Rod, & Stoner BBQ

It now looks as if all I post about is tv and movies. Well to be honest I have always watched a lot of movies and it is of recent that I have found some things that are interesting to write about.

Such is the case for Hot Chick, Hot Rod, & Stoner BBQ. By no means is it a great movie and by my standards would probley be a better "net" movie or "net" tv series. It however was pretty funny and awesome at the same time.

The premise: Take a red neckish, hot rod, pot smoking girl and make a BBQ cooking show out of it. While stuff is cooking away, jump to other hot rod butchy (but cute girls) who show you how to change your spark plugs oil etc. Now throw in some shots of everybody smoking pot and there you go. Not really much there but it did combine my passion for cars and BBQ into one movie, so what's not to love?

It is almost like another "net" show that Emerson and I were working on at one point. Build a show out of a 50's style pin-up girl slash girl next door and good old home made cooking. Noting really fancy as far as cooking goes just simple "country" cooking. Go over the top with stylings of the girl and the kitchen while staying simple with the cooking. I still thinks its a really good idea but I am just too lazy to do it. Maybe I should start pitching the ideas to Revision3.

Addicted To TV

Not really but with the advent and push for more and more on-line content it sure has made it a lot easier for me to watch shows I would otherwise miss. I have never watched that much TV but with me having to work late and needing background noise I have found myself turning on CBS. They have a new thing called InnerTube.

InnerTube is CBS (and the first network) attempt to draw online viewers to watch their shows. You can pick from a variety of shows to watch. They have full episodes of most and snippets of others. I have watched all episodes of CSI, SHARK (I love this show) and Numb3ers. The real gem of this is I have been turned onto a show called SMITH with Ray Liotta. Its great so far and I still have a few more still to watch. InnerTube still has commercials but its only one and its only every 12 mins. So far I am pleased with this version of online viewing. I have experienced a few problems with their system but nothing to bad.

Now it also looks as if NBC is trying to get in the mix. From now until the second half of the season starts in mid January you can catch up on all of the Hero's episodes. Since I haven't watched but one it should be good to get caught up.

A quick recap on some other things I have been watching:

TV:
HOUSE MD Season 1,2 & 3
Las Vegas Season 4
Shark
Smith

Movies Of Notable Intrest:
Casino Royale
--Best Bond Movie of my time
Lucky # Sleven
--Great movie, a little more polished and less kaotic than Pulp Fiction or Usual Suspects (not as good as those two either but on par)
Christmas Vacation
--Great Christmas Film
Stick It
--Laugh now but it was really good.

Internet TV Idea

I have had an idea for a while for an on-line tv show. I have been trying to get interest in it through various avenues. I now figure with the ever so popular push to put new exciting content on-line that someone may just show interest. I have thought about a lot of different angles to push it. Anyways here goes the thought.
